TreeFlex
The new patented TreeFlex™ safety harness has been ergonomically designed to give arborists increased comfort during periods of prolonged use. There are a number of key features that make the new harness more comfortable. These include an anatomically designed back pad that follows the pelvic girdle to distribute weight onto the sacrum and independently articulating, anatomically designed leg loops, which support the legs in the most efficient position, allowing unrestricted motion of the hip joint.
TreeFlex™ has been designed as a custom harness for the specific needs of today's modern Arborist. The combined efforts of experienced arborists, safety technologists and remedial personal trainers within the TreeFlex™ team, ensure your future health is our top priority. Because Arborists have to sit, stand, twist and lean more than any other person working at height, we believe that harnesses and many other tools currently on the market are not fulfilling the requirements of ergonomic motion in trees as they should be.
TreeFlex™ Sizing
We have the following sizes for the harness. The measurement for the harness size correlates to the pelvic measure, not the waist. The measurement MUST be taken with tape measure around the rim of the hips, slightly above where a belt sits for most normal trouser wearers (not the waist). To be taken whilst wearing trousers and T shirt. Typically, this measurement is two inches larger than your jeans waist measurement. For example, I take a size 36" waist in Jeans, but my pelvic rim measure is 38" and my hips are 40". Clothing layers need to be considered, so if the client is just inside the upper limit, they will be better off with the next size up.
It is very important to ensure the correct waist size, to ensure the hip Ds sit in the correct position, and sufficient room for adjustment is possible between summer and winter clothing:
- Small: 32" to 36"
- Medium: 36" to 40"
- Large: 40" to 44"
The leg strap sizing is adjustable from 17"/43cm up to 28"/72cm on the small and medium and 17"/43cm up to 32"/ 82cm on the size large.
Putting a large bridge into a medium harness may help those with large thighs to slide the waist belt up without getting 'stuck'.
Users can select different sized bridges to suit their needs and also add or remove attachment rings or swivels depending on preference. Replacement bridge components can be ordered if required.
The TreeFlex harness can also be used as a full body harness that meets the EN 361 standard when combined with the ActSafe Attack Support harness.
By attaching the Attack Support harness to the blue attachment point on the front waist belt of the TreeFlex, the combined harness now has a front fall arrest attachment point.
TreeSit
Also available for the TreeFlex – and other harnesses is a removable hard seat. For use during prolonged suspension this rigid aluminium seat provides support without compressing the sciatic nerve or reducing circulation in the legs. It is designed to be clipped onto the leg rings of the TreeFlex so that the attachment does not impinge on the work attachment points. The extra adjustment webbing allows the seat to be attached to most harnesses and it has three large gear loops on the base for equipment storage. One size and not PPE.
