Safety Training comes firstThe UK plans to build 7000 wind turbines both off shore and across the UK landscape over the next 6 years to meet growing demands for renewable energy. Therefore the protection and safety of those engineers and operators working on these wind turbines is without a doubt an important aspect for owners, operators and maintenance companies to consider when working in Wind Turbines. STL has developed specific safety training courses, which can be tailored to meet customer requirements, in conjunction with Wind Energy companies for working in turbines during construction and operation.

Measuring Britain’s Tallest Trees with Tree FlexBack in February, Justin Palmer from STL alongside a team of college lecturers, an extreme sports photographer and an arboriculturalist, embarked on a project to measure the main contenders for the UK’s tallest trees in Scotland. Fully equipped wearing Tree Flex harnesses the team confirmed a new record. The Stronardron Douglas Fir in the grounds of Dunans Castle in Argyll is the UK and in fact Northern Europe’s tallest living thing, measuring at an incredible 209ft (63.79m). Justin comments “it was amazing to be involved in the search for the UK’s tallest trees. Next year we want to search for the worlds tallest trees!”
